The Washougal River

Tucked away in the Pacific Northwest mountains, our property shines beneath towering trees. Its standout feature is the North Fork of the Washougal River, offering prime access for exhilarating whitewater kayaking in the rainy season and relaxing tube floats over gentle rapids in the summer.  The name comes from the Chinook Indians, meaning “Rushing Water”.

The North Fork

Beginning by Camp Kwoneesum in the Silver Star region, our secluded river stretch offers kayakers a thrilling journey through river canyons and a nice waterfall, with sparse riverside homes along the way. Ideal for fall and winter, it features challenging Class 4+ rapids. Near the end, you will find LaGrange Pointe, situated above a serene swimming hole and beach, leading to the last major rapid before joining the main Washougal River.

The Main Washougal River

The main Washougal River, spanning 33 miles from Gifford-Pinchot National Forest to the Columbia, is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts. Fed by mountain creeks, it’s a historic spot for fishing, camping, and boating. Featuring waterfalls, swimming holes, campgrounds, and fish hatcheries, it’s ideal for beginner kayakers and summer tube floating.
